Patch Cord Problem

i am working at a office. i use the state cable for pc. when i try to pinging i face the prblem that the data is going loss.then i make a cable in that cable i disconnect the five number pin and i connect only 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 then i try on the pc its working properly. tell me the reason why all this happened
