PC frozen with black screen.

e-machines pc has recently started going into what appears to be hibernation mode but is actually ‘frozen.’ Screen is blank, NumLock and CapsLock respond, case light is amber. Power off/on is required. Malware, spyware, virus scan show no problems. Any thoughts?
