Pc not recognizing camcorder

by bunnyko . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

Hey, i searched the forum for this, and couldn;t find an answer, the only info i managed to get (searching here and elsewhere) is that generally USB connections don;t work with camcorders, and that very well may be my problem- i have a Canon ZR850 miniDV camcorder. The problem is i’m connecting using the USB cable trying to get video off of it. i turn on the camera to playback mode, and nothing happens (PC wise). The computer doesn;t recognize it. I’m running Windows XP (professional). My computer doesn;t have a firewire port. If theres anyway to get my computer to recognize my camera without me having to buy a firewire port, please let me know. (The other 2 ways to connect are AV and DV- is DV firewire?) Thank you for taking you time to answer this (probably over asked) question. Or, at least point me to where i can find the answer, thanks!
