per server/per seat licensing for Windows 2003

by certainly_unique . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

hi,

i’ve got a couple of questions for clarification, please help:

1. once you purchase a license either per server or per seat, will you be provided by microsoft with a license key that you have to input into the license key section of Windows 2003 server or is it just a certification or document informing you that you’ve purchased the per seat or per server license (so that in case microsoft would do auditing, you have a proof to present to them)?

2. for instance, i’ve set per seat to 5 and did not purchase any per seat license from microsoft, what will happen? can the users still connect on that server or would they encounter any connection error on the server when they attempt to connect to it since a license has not been purchased?

thanks in advance for your help.
