Performance Issues – Access 2007

by michelleguilbeault . Updated 18 years, 1 month ago

I have recently converted an application from Access 2000 to Access 2007 with no new functionality, just a straight conversion. The application runs as it did previously when we test it on a local computer. Once we migrate the back end to the Linux server we notice a marked slowdown in performance. It’s equally slow with the back end on a Buffalo stand-alone hard drive. A form that used to open in 3 seconds now takes 30 seconds. Service Pack 1 is installed. The front end is installed on both Windows XP and Vista machines with no marked difference in performance.

Users are frustrated by the slow performance. Is this slow down normal? Any suggestions on how to speed things up? The forms are large forms, but the main user doesn’t want to change the existing app.

I’d appreciate any suggestions.
