Periodic relogon necessary?

We are running 40 Workstations on a win 2k network. Some Workstations are fine but the ones running win xp lose their connections after a short period of inactivity. You then need to log off and back on to be able to connect to another computer on the network. Strange. The NT4 and 2000 machines seem fine.
