I have a one-year old HP Pavilion dv8000 laptop running XP Media Edition.
I am the only user and am not attached to any networks (except the local library wifi).
I recently installed a new version (6.3) of an older (5.2) CAD software package I upgraded. When attempting to copy the license file (to verify my right to operate the software) to the software’s root directory, I am informed I do not have the proper rights. I need to see my administrator. According to my Control Panel/Users section, I am an admin.
The software’s root folder properties shows the folder and all files to be Read Only. I cannot change any of them. None of this happened with the 5.2 version of the software. Both versions were written specifically for XP.
The only changes to the system have been Microsoft, HP & Norton service/security updates.
HP says the problem is the CAD software. The CAD software says the problem is either Microsoft or Norton. Microsoft isn’t saying anything. Norton …
