Permissions Problem on Win 2000 Server

by michael.grace . Updated 21 years, 8 months ago

We have a Windows 2000 AD network. I recently added a new Windows 2000 (SP4) HP server with all critical security patches applied. I set permissions for a particular folder under “C:\Program Files” for full control by a particular group. Every day I set the permission and they hold for the day. The next morning the group has been removed and the group members no longer have permissions. This has been happening everyday for 2 weeks. I have 7 years experience and I have set permissions on NT and 2000 servers 1000s of times so I know what I’m doing. I am checking off both “inherit from parent…” and “replace permission entries on all child…” on the advanced tab. The server is running SQL 2000, NAV 9 corp edition, and Veritas Backup Exec 9. Only two people have the local and the domain admin account password (myself and my counterpart) and it was changed recently so I do not believe that anyone is hacking it. Any ideas?
