Hello, My name is Paul and I am trying to solve what I percieve as a problem. I have a network at a small law firm running Windows Server 2000 w exchange server. We are using windows vista on our desk tops. Here is the problem. Our internet began to run very slow. We using a DSL connection. I called my ISP and was told that the connectiion was OK but that I was showing high uploads. the connection sometime runs OK but at others it comes to a stop.
I am running CA E trust on the server for virus protection.
I went into our server and have found the
following.
e Trust pops up a message that a virus has be found – “PHISHBANK.BRU” and has been cured and that a reboot is needed to complete the cure. I can have many of the same messeges that I have to cancell in order to return to the desktop.
I have done the reboot and the mesages return.
I looked at the Mailroot folder in Exchange and found thousand of messages in the BAD Mail and the Queue folders. I have deleteed these.
When i trie to delete in the Queue folder I get a message that certian e mails are being used and cannot be deleted. By shutting down SMTP I can get rid of the e mails. All the mail in these folders are spam.
I have a couple of mail folder that are left over from previously used mail accounts. The users have been deleted but the mail folder remain. When I try to remove I get a “no path found” and cannot delete. Why is that? How do I get rid of these?
What is causing all the bad email and what is filling my Queue? Is this something that is comming from my system? Has someone gotten in and are they using me to send spam? If I have a problem can it be cured easily?
Thank You
