Physical location Catastrophic Failure

by davidian . Updated 23 years ago

On Windows 2000 server, in the MMC under Removable Storage, the Python dds3 tape drive which is attached to the system is not visible. It is visible in the device manager and it also passes the tapetool diagnostics, but under physical locations, there is nothing there, not even the installed CD-ROM. When I refresh the physical locations it gives me a error message of “catastrophic failure”. It seems that the drive is physically fine. Could it be that part of the MMC is corrupt? if so, is there any way of fixing this issue without a full reinstall?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Chris
