Planet IP Camera

I’m a newbie when it comes to networking and installing IP cameras. Although I can see the IP camera when it is connected directly to my computer, once I try to connect it to the internet connection so that I can try to view through the internet I can’t seem to find the IP camera. I already have a Static IP connection. My IP camera is a Planet ICA-210. Is there a difference if I use a router or a hub in between the IP camera and the internet connection? Am I missing other configuration settings to get the camera to work?
