pleae please please please- i REALLY need help with my Belkin router

by tallgadge . Updated 19 years, 6 months ago

i’m with NTL for my broadband, via a cable modem. about a year ago, i set up a home network with a belkin f5d7230-4 wireless g router.

this worked perfectly until about a month ago. now quite regularly, the green lights on the router go out, and only 1 orange light appears on the router – and i lose my internet connection (msg comes up on the pc connected to it by cable saying ‘network cable is unplugged’).

i’ve tried calling Belkin helpdesk, and emailing them, but they’re as much use as a chocolate fireguard with this.

I’ve reset the router, tried plugging it into a different power socket, updated the firmware etc. EVERYTHING they suggested, but it still keeps happening.

it’s not the cable modem, or the ethernet cables as i can connect directly to the modem without any incidents.

This has happened even when both PCs are switched off.

Now i’m at my wits’s end – please, can anyone tell me why this is happenning, and how i can fix it?

There have been no hardware/software changes to either PC, and both are free of adware/spyware/virues.

any help greatly appreciated,

thanks.
