port access to xp home edition

I have a setup to access a service (broadcast) on a specific port on my home network. The setup has worked successfully on a machine running XP Pro.

I have received a new machine for the broadcast that is running XP home edition, and things will not work the same way.

I can still access the service inside my lan using my private ip and port number, but I cannot connect to the public ip & port on the XP home machine.

All the settings on the router remained the same. I have XP Home’s firewall off.

What am I missing? I’ve been reading about others remote access setup, but it hasnt seemed to help with this permissions issue.

Any guidance on what XP Home permissions could be set wrong is greatly appreciated.
