Port config for online tech support

How do you configure proxy server ports to allow online tech dianostics and support by a vendor. Both Dell and Gateway offer such support but I don’t know how to configure the ports even when I know which ports the vendor requires on the support server and the client LAN. Specs: CMS proxy software on WinNT 4.0 server with Win98se clients.
