Port disabled – router 2811

I am trying to work on the Cisco Packet tracer 5.0 for some time now.. But everytime i configure an interface and then verify it with the “show” command. I am getting an information displayed that says the port is disabled .. Can anyone please provide me with the solution for this problem.
