PowerdownAfterShutdown

by rsears . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

I have had to reinstall NT 4.0 WS on my optiplex gx1, since I have done so the machine will not “power down after shutdown” correctly. I went into the registry and made the appropriate changes to the “PowerdownAfterShutdown: reg_sz 1” which added the option but, when it powers off it will power back on. I did a little research and found out there has been similar problems with Compaq laptops and NT’s HAL. I would like the machine to shut off completely. Can you tell me how to make it do this without pressing the power button?

Mehul Patel?s response
According to my knowledge NT doesnot support power down after shutdown even if the system has the support as your system has it. We also have the same system. The feature is supported in windows 95/98/2000 hence it works on the machines of the same type where these 3 OS is loaded. I mean to say any of the three OS is loaded (windows 95/98/2000).

While commenting to this answer the first time I accidentally gave Mehul Patel 250 points for a answer to this question that was incorrect. I know for a fact that this feature works on machines with NT (server & workstation) because I have many identical NT machines that it does work on. That is why I am uping the points to 500 for a correct answer because I?m pissed at myself for giving them away to someone who did not deserve them!
