primary network logon

Installed a network card and networking protocols (including Client for Microsoft Networks as the primaty network logon), but on startup the “Enter network password” window does not come up. The pc starts up and goes right to the Windows desktop. If you logoff windows, you then get prompted to log on to the network. Once logged on to the network, access to the other network resources become available. Any suggestions
as to why the user is not prompted to log on to the network at startup?Please advise.
