Print Spooler Service

by demosthanese . Updated 18 years ago

One of the production girls in my office suddenly cant print. She had been printing all day, then went and changed the paper in our Xerox Phaser 7760. When she came back she couldnt open the print preferences.

She gets
Error 5: Access is denied. The Print Spooler Service is not running.

Of course i did a services.msc to check and it IS running, restarted it anyway. Also restarted the printer, and computer. Installed updates on the computer. Tried my admin login, and i can still access the printer. Even if i runas on her login i cant get access to the printer preferences. Checked the server side settings and its set to everyone, so shes included.

Im about to try kb919750 and see how that goes. Will report back soon.

***RESOLVED***
didnt use the KB, just went to %windir%\system32 and doubleclicked the service. Dont know why services.msc didnt work, but oh well.
