Printer mappings

How do I add a printer hanging off a win2k professinal machine and have the server recognise the whole of the network path instead of it connecting it to LPT1 on the server. It is very easy to do with win95/98 and have the network path showing. Can it be done 2k machines. Anytime I do that the server adds the shared network printer to LPT1 if it on a win2k machine
