Printers Security Issue

Hi everyone,
A few days ago I get a strange issue on my work!
Someone came asking about printer???s connectivity and he was wondering that the printer is connected throw USB to internet computer, and its network adapter linked to our internal network…
I have 2 physical networks separated, one for internet and the other for Local intranet and we use the same printer for both networks cause today???s printer offers more than one port (Parallel, USB, Network) Even Wireless Connectivity.
My question is: is there a possibility to hack the printer???s port in order to gain access to local intranet????.
I searched a lot on internet but nothing found.
Is there anyone using this method?
