Printing

I am having problem to print on Hp Laserjet 6L from windows xp on one pc. But I can print on HP 6L from other machine. The interface for the printer is parallel. The other machine detects the printer and installs the drivers automatically. But when I connect the printer to first machine it does not detect the printer. I have changed the cable, but to no use. I have also reinstalled the drivers, but no use.
Does anyone have the solution
