printing from xp home to xp home

getting frustrated…

I setup network printing for a friend the other day and now its acting very flaky

his desktop is windows xp home and it is sharing the printer.

i added the shared printer to his laptop via add printer/network printer/connect to (\\desktop-pc\printer) and was able to add the printer and printed a test page. he said by the next day it wouldnt print anymore. I had him restart the desktop and then he could print again for a short time. had him disable firewall on desktop also. i had enabled file/print sharing on firewall when i setup but wasnt sure

not sure whats going on, any ideas?
