Our company runs all computers as well as our server on Windows 2000. For some reason, we cannot access local printers installed on the client unless it is also installed directly on the server that we are connecting to. We have the “printer” box clicked under local resources, yet our local printers do not show up in remote desktop unless, like I said, we install the driver direclty onto the server.
So that is my first question. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Also, we just purchased a new printer for use with one of our off site computers. Our network admin is saying that they need to install the driver onto the server, and we therefore need to ship them both the driver disk AND the printer itself. Apparently, she cannot install the driver onto the server without the printer being present.
Is there anyway around this? Obviously, if the first question is solved, then the second is moot.
Thanks for your help.
