I previously posted this question under the title, “Printing Web Pages/HTML Format Emails” but closed the question when I thought I had found the solution. (Changing the Scaling in the Printer Setup)However, due to the erratic nature of the problem, the solution was only temporary so when the same course of action was taken on subsequent occasions, the problem persisted. Apparently it was coincidental that it worked when it did.
I am experiencing difficulty in printing some web pages and HTML-formatted email newsletters which are not available in plain text. I am using Windows 98, Netscape Communicator 4.75 and both an HP 4050N and 6P Laserjet. The problem occurs on all computers used.
The characters on the far right are being cut off as if the page width has been set up wider than A4. Changing the margin widths in Page Setup changes the margin width but makes no difference to the cutting off. The document looks okay on screen and in print preview before printing.
It was suggested that I print out in Landscape which works but is not economic. Using Landscape in conjunction with graphics scaling is more economic but not ideal.
I need to print the entire page in Portrait without cutting and pasting.
Due to the erratic nature of the problem it appears to be hardware related. I know that HP has a software program to deal with such problems but I am not prepared to purchase software from outside Australia.
