Prison Break – wireless data stealing

Hi, this is my first post so please bear with me. There is this device on the Prison Break Tv Show, they call it Sylia. It is a Device which can Copy/steal data(not sure if anykind) from another digital device upto 10 feets distance. I argued with my friends that it not impossible to have something like that. What do you guys think?
