Problem burning cds

The computer i am using is a Dell E520 which i purchased 6months ago. The problem i am having is i got the “blue screen of death” and now my pc will play cds no problem but it will not let me burn cds. I have re-installed the drivers for the writer but it just sits and does not recoginise the blank disk. Any help??
