Problem Deleting Programs

I wanted to delete a program last night so I went into the control panel and opened up the add/remove programs window. To my surprise, there is nothing to click that will remove any of the programs listed. The only data that shows is how large the program file is, how often it is used, and when it was used. Has anyone seen this before? I hope this isn’t a dumb question, but I’ve never seen this. Could there be a virus of some type that will not allow the deletion of programs including the program that the virus might be hiding in? I’ve run a virus scan and the only thing that comes up is ad ware stuff. I’m stumped! Anyone have any ideas?
