problem playing the voice mails

A couple of days ago I downloaded and installed quick time for windows from apple.com to watch a movie trailer on the apple site.
I am using win98 SE , i get lots of voice mails, (netscape voice mails and wave files), now when I get a voice mail and if if want to listen to them the system tries to open them as if they are quick time files and as a result I can’t run them, I have to removed every thing related to quick time, but still when I want to listen to *.wav files or netscape voice mailsit gives me a message the quick time pulg-in required…….
How can i get my voice mail to be able to run again without having to do anything with quick time.
