Problem with sound over Vista Remote Desktop connection

by paul . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

When using Remote Desktop to connect to a PC running Vista Ultimate, sounds cannot not be played through the client computer even though remote sound is set to ?Bring to this compute.? On the Vista machine, Sounds | Control Panel shows no error, however, when the sounds are tested (like ?Critical Beep?), no sound is transmitted through the connection. Also, when I try to play music through Windows Media Player 11 in Vista, I get an error (C00D11B1; 80070057).

Looks like Vista is using the Microsoft RDP Audio Transport driver for Remote desktop connection when using the ?Bring to this computer.? Is there any way to reinstall this driver or reinstall Remote Desktop Server to fix this problem? Is there any other resolution?
