Problem with Static IP on New Windows XP Machine

I’m working on a network that has Static IP addresses assigned to all computers. I’m trying to replace an old IBM Desktop running Windows 2000 Professional with a new Dell running Windows XP. I configured networking on the new Dell with the same network info, IP Address, Default Gateway, DNS Servername, even machine name as the old IBM. I’m unable to successfully ping anything other than localhost. I haven’t worked with static IPs much but I can’t see why I’m having issues, any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
