Problems connecting external monitor to HP66110 LAPTOP

I have a HP6110 laptop with a broken screen.
In the past I was able to plug an external monitor into in and it worked well. No nothing happens. I tested the monitor on another laptop and it works fine. The problem is that I cant see the screen to go into the settings. Any advice?
