problems with cable interne(telenet)

i’ve bought a linksys WRT54G and at home i have a modem, but mij linksys doesn’t accept te connection so i can’t surf the internet! without the router i can!
i’ve tested the router on a dsl line and this works! i can’t understand it and i hope that you can help me
