Here’s an odd problem. I installed NTServer4 as a PDC on a test network. After getting everything on it, WINS, DNS, DHCP, SP6, IE5, MDAC, etc. I try to ping another machine on the network. It won’t ping. The Hub is working, the cat5 cables are good. The NIC is working and the drivers are correct. It is set to be a master browser by default and set to domain master in the registry. The machines are on the same subnet. The machine is working properly. There are no errors reported by event viewer. However, when I update it to Windows2000 server, it works fine, but I’m not trying to run 2000. Also in network neighborhood, It doesn’t show up (usually points to a browser problem). It can ping itself without a problem also. Any help would be appreciated.
