I have just replaced a Win 2000 Server with a Win 2003 R2 Server and recreated a one-way trust between 2 domains. (Domain B trusts Domain A). Prior to installing the new server, the trust worked fine. Now however, I have errors when a user from domain A tries to logon on to domain A from a workstation in domain B. The user is validated but when trying to access resources on domain A (i.e a shared folder on the server in domain A) I get the following error message:
“domainA is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. the list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.”
Also, when trying to add a user from domainA to the local administrators group on the workstation in domainB, i can get as far as selecting domainA, entering the administrative account details for domainA and selecting the user to add from domainA. I then get the following message:
“Windows cannot process the object with the name “Username” because of the following error:
The RPC server is unavailable.”
I have run nslookup, netdiag and dcdiag on both domains and all appear to be successful. I can ping each of the servers. When i validate the trust it comes back with message the trust is in place and active.
I’m not sure where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated.
