Processes in Task Manager

I was just wondering why the System Idle process in Task Manager always shows a CPU percentage of 99 or sometimes in the 80’s? I’ve also learned that it is not a process that you can change priority on. It seems like it is a normal thing, because I see it on the server and workstations as well. So it looks like something that is normal, but I was hoping someone could explain that to me. Thanks.
