Hello Everyone.
Let me start by saying that I am not a networking guy. We are starting a MITEL voice over IP phone project.
In My remote locations
I have a procurve 2626 switch with 2 vlans
Vlan 1 Default_vlan 10.1.40.x 255.255.255.0
Switch ip for VLAN 1 10.1.40.9
Vlan 2 Voice 10.1.41.x 255.255.255.0
Switch IP for VLAN 2 10.1.41.9
I have 1 external router 10.1.40.1
I’m trying to setup the switch so the voice vlan gets priority.
port 1 will have the router connected to it and port 24 will have the Mitel CX phone switch attached to it.
I have enabled IP routing on the switch.
Our workstations will plug into the phones and the phones will be pluggd into the procurve switches. Both Vlans will be accessing the same port on the switch.
My confusion:
How do I setup the ports on the switch? Do I have to enable trunking on the switch? How do I setup the switch to give the voice vlan priority?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
cheers
Barry
