Progressing to a Project Manager…

What would be your advice to a project
technical lead with strong desires to be a
project manager?

I am a project technical lead for 4 years
now,in 1 months i will be sitting for a CAPM
certification. I am ready for a PM role but not
sure how to go about it.
1. Its gonna be a tough sell to my management
to promote me – partly because they fear my
current role will not be filled with the same
experience.
2. I am strongly thinking about other
companies, but who will hire an experienced
project technical lead with CAPM as a PM?
3. sit here and hope my management will finally
see i am a PM material.

Whats your advice? what would you recommend?
