Protecting registry

HI Guys,

There have been recent outbreaks in viruses/trojans, that disable the registry, command prompt, control panel,folder options, my computers properties, etc.

The antivirus companies eventually catch eith them and provide a remedy, but then the damage has already been done.

Am looking for suggestions on how to secure the above functions from hackers.Bear in mind that the malicious code has file infector capabilities so far, and will jump from one physical drive to another, any suggestions are welcome.
