I have two proxy servers running version 2SP1 on NT4 SP5 IIS3, set up as caching servers only, behind a firewall. Every now and again, the web proxy, FTP and winsock proxy services will hang – not always all of them. The services can’t be stopped. Only a reboot cures it. They do a scheduled reboot every 1hr, but that’s not acceptable. The time taken for the hang to occur varies from 5 minutes to several days. Both servers are different hardware, so it’s not that at fault. I’ve tried re-service packing the servers, but still have the same problems. One has only recently been rebuilt. I’ve noticed sometimes, but not always, active connections to 0.0.0.0, various ports – does this have any bearing on the situation? Can anyone help? Could theybe being attacked? How do I find out? TIA.
