Proxy server 2.0 client installation woe

when i try to install proxy server 2.0 onto a win 98 and winnt workstation i get the error 514
“the log file command line option /g
must have a valid filename

the install fails if it is web base through the browser or from the mspclnt folder on the server

the installation then stops
i am following the installation to the letter and have checked all the settings , the problem must be on the server

which is nt4 server with sp 6a
any help would be much appreciated
