Proxy settings

Since I occasionally switch between different environments I would prefer to have IE’s Tools => Internet Options => Connections => LAN settings => “Automatically detect settings” option enabled.

However, each time I start IE this seems to cause a delay of roughly 15-20 seconds (at least during that times the lower left corner reads “Detecting proxy settings”). Does anyone know if there’s a way to speed this up, e.g. Registry setting to reduce the time-out, so that this option has less performance impact (or rather “idling impact”)
