ps/2 mouse

hi, while working in windows suddenly the computer hangs… so i restarted it … then it hangs [while moving the mouse], so i thought that their might be a viruse or a hacking file doing this … so i deleted windows and installed it again it doesn’t read ps/2 mouse .. i tried another one it also failed to read.. so i installed a serial one … it works…. got any idea why this ? is it a malefunction in the mother board ???
