Quickbooks 2007 and Windows Firewall

by su1 . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

We have a network with a computer that hosts the QB 2007 files (XP Prof Machine), three XP Home machines access the files remotely. All belong to one workgroup.
Since we uninstalled Norton AV on the host machine and replaced it wit SpySweeper AV, we are temporarily using Windows Firewall again, in addition to the Firewall in our router(stealth mode).

Now Windows Firewall obviously does not grant the remote machines access to the QBshared folder, although all requirements of QB 2007 have been met (several .exe files, port 10172 open).
The folder can be accessed remotely, even Word docs in that folder can be opened and edited, just QB denies access displaying a message regarding a wrong firewall configuration.

Only disabling the WFw lets the remote machines access the files (not a long therm solution). I might have to use a separate software…?

Anybody has an idea?

Thanks
