RAW partition – Cant access

I have 80gb HD partitioned. I upgraded my system partition from W2K to XP. When the XP install was complete. I am now unable to access one of the partitions. It says is RAW. Is there a way to convert that to FAT32 or NTFS with out lossing the data or is the data already lost?
