re-installing Windows XP

I have A Toshiba Laptop TECRA A9 model No; PTS52A-OCT017.

Itried to re-install its operating system but it can’t boot from the windows XP cd i’m using eventhough i set it to boot first from CD-rom in its BIOS setup menu.

Any body please help me out here.
