Reading FDD in Windows98

by absofvt . Updated 25 years, 9 months ago

I have two customers both using Windows98 second edition.

Customer one when they tries to read or write to the FDD from within windows the system hangs up. If they try reading or writing to the floppy from the Dos prompt it works fine. The problem has only been present since they change from Windows95 to 98 second edition.

Customer two the system does not hangup but when they try to write to the FDD they get a disk writing error blue screen, they do not have a problem with reading the FDD. Again they have no problem from the Dos prompt.

Both customers are using the same board with a 200mhz MMX CPU, both have 64mb of memory, motheboard has sound and video on board (SiS.

Customer one just changed to Windows98 second edition, customer two has been using 98 second edition for 2-3 months problem just started winthin the last week.

Any ideas whats going on?
