rebooting server

Should a Novell Server be rebooted on a regular basis? We have a novell 4.11 server and its always been a great server. within the last 6 months, our new bosses decided they want the novell server to be rebooted on a weekly basis. Is this good for the server? recently we’ve had a few server problems. (locked up twice, a corrupt file once) I was wondering if this had anything to do with the new reboot schedule? Thanks for your opinions!
