Recover Data From SATA drive

Hi,
I have a SATA drive that is giving me a read error. Dell diagnostics say to replace the drive.
When I have and ATA drive go bad but is still recogniized by the pc I am able to copy data off of it. I want to be able to do the same with the SATA. When I attach it to SATA connection 2 on another pc it is not recognized. Any thoughts?
