recover NT system files in case of hard

i repaced my 4.2 GB SCSI fail hard drive with a 9.2 SCSI hard drive. Then i reinstalled NT and backup software. Then i restored the whole system using my last full backup. When i rebooted the server, i got a blue screen and the machine froze. What did i do wrong? What step(s) should i take to correct it?
