Recovering Exchange data from disc of dead server

My server motherboard died and I have got a new server on which I have installed Small Business Server 2003.

I have the data from the old Small Business Server 2003 Exchange server on a portable drive but no Server Back up.

I am trying to get access to the old data on the new system.

I can see no way within Exchange to read the old data files without them being in a Server domain system.

The only route I have come across so far is to pay 473 Euros to Stellar information for software to convert the Exchange EDB file into an Outlook readable PST file.

Surely there must be a better and cheaper way? Through Exchange itself?

I will appreciate any help!
